Dr. Divya Verma

Dr. Divya Verma is a compassionate and dedicated physician who practices Infectious Diseases Medicine in Bowie, MD. Although he was born in India and raised in Maryland, he has trained across the United States including medical school at University of Maryland, medical residency at Emory University and Grady Memorial Hospital, and Infectious Diseases Fellowship training at UCLA. He decided to return to the DC metro area and has been in private practice for almost 25 years.

By working with Daydream Sunshine Initiative, he has set up a one-stop shop for patients dealing with infections and other immunologic problems. This includes competent staff and expert medical coworkers, food assistance, transportation, condoms, as well as on-site pharmacy with delivery services.

Dr. Verma is really a one-of-a-kind incredible individual who will make sure his patients are staying healthy and will fight for them no matter what. Even in these troubled times, he can always be available to help anyone with complicated medical problems.

 

Dr. Alvarez-McLeod

Dr. Alvarez-McLeod is a Board-certified Infectious Diseases Specialist with 30 years of experience in her field. A graduate of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (Medical Degree) and of the Columbia University School of Public Health, New York (Masters Degree in Public Health) and trained in New York City hospitals (Mt Sinai Services, New York Medical College). She has dedicated her career to the comprehensive care of HIV affected persons with a holistic, science-based compassionate approach.

She brings to our center experience in HIV, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, special interest in the care of affected pregnant women as well as in Public Health, HIV prevention and infectious diseases in general. She has practiced in New York City and Atlanta, Ga before relocating to Maryland.

She is married to a software engineer and they have two children pursuing college degrees. They enjoy hiking, swimming, music and the arts and travel in their free time.

 

Dominique Guillaume

Dominique Guillaume received her Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, with a specialization in HIV treatment from Duke University. She is certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.

Prior to relocating to Maryland, she managed the care of patients living with HIV in Atlanta, Georgia while also providing HIV, STI, and TB care to patients in Haiti. She has extensive research experience focused on cervical cancer prevention for women living with HIV, and has worked on developing strategies to increase PrEP uptake for women using culturally-tailored approaches. She currently is a PhD candidate at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, and a Global Women’s Health Fellow with Johns Hopkins International Educational Program for Obstetrics and Gynecology and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is passionate about centering the needs of her patients to promote optimal health and wellness, and works with patients to ensure their preferences, needs, and values are recognized and incorporated into their care management.

Fun Fact: She loves to cook in her free time and is a competitive aerial gymnast. Her husband is a neurologist and together they run a non-profit in Port-au-Prince, Haiti dedicated to reducing health burdens among youth.
